Get Curious 🌱 about gratitude & creativity

We're leaning into cannabis big time to follow our creative dreams & support our communities this Thanksgiving 🫶🏽

How did we get high with intention lately? 🎂

This week, one of our writers channeled her sesh into cake decorating. Check out her experience:

I’ve been itching to decorate a cake for months. When I was little, I used to do it all the time. My elementary school best friend and I often did it together, using the kitchen in her parent’s basement apartment rental when it was unoccupied and unofficially starting a business we called Basement Bakery. We mostly made cupcakes and cakes that fit the theme of our own little cousins’ birthday parties. I can still pipe Bob The Builder with my eyes closed.

I couldn’t tell you when I stopped decorating cakes, but ever since I turned 30 in June, I’ve been actively trying to incorporate more of my favorite feel-good childhood activities into my adult life. This weekend, I finally got back to Basement Bakery (ahem, 4th Floor Bakery, I guess).

Over the years, I’ve used cannabis to stop me from getting in my own way and to be present in the moment. Rather than convincing myself I should be using my time more efficiently (make a spreadsheet! send cold emails! scrub the floors!), cannabis helps me slow down and just enjoy whatever it is I’m doing. The important part for me is setting an intention so I don’t just end up scrolling and snacking on the couch (though occasionally, that is the intention).

A Thanksgiving Tradition 🚶🏿‍♀️💨

We all know the cousins’ walk: sometimes pre-meal, sometimes post-meal, sometimes once every couple hours amidst day-long nibbling when you and the cousins head out around the block to smoke a little something like you’re teenagers again. Let’s face it, if you have your own teenagers, you and your generation are likely lighting up at home while they’re out on their own walk, carrying on the tradition with vape pens or gummies. And hey - Shelley brings up a good point - don’t forget to invite grandma!

Here are our picks to make sure you’ve got the essentials for this year’s walk:

🧶 Cozy sweater to keep warm on a chilly November night

🧦 Stash socks to keep your supplies on hand (on foot?)

☕ Water bottle or to-go hot tea to stay hydrated

💋 Lip balm for dryness from the elements and from smoking

🐕 The dog; it is a walk, after all

🍗 Leftovers or snacks (your munchies will thank you)

🔥 A lighter; the most important thing after cannabis & cousins

🧤 Gloves, not mittens, for warmth and to puff puff pass

🎒 Cute & functional stash bag for all of the above

Infuse your Holiday Recipes with Gratitude & Green

☕ Whether or not your holiday function is 420 friendly, coffee is a delicious, discreet way to incorporate the plant into your celebration.

🍸 If you’re keeping the holidays alcohol-free, that does’t mean you have to skip the sense of community. Try a mocktail or infused tonic.
