Get Curious 🌱 brands doing good for breast cancer

First, we hope this email finds you well. We are based in south Florida, and we genuinely hope that you and your loved ones, and all of those affected by Hurricane Milton, came through the storm safely. 🙏

While we certainly love fall outside of hurricane season, October is so much more than apple-scented and pumpkin-spiced everything. We’ve rounded up some cannabis initiatives supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month and featured a celebration of Latinas in Cannabis as we come to the end of Hispanic Heritage Month. We’re also sharing the story of a canna-mom who spends her time advocating and working in maternal mental health care.

As always, we love to hear what you think and want to invite you to the conversation. Reply and tell us your thoughts!

 xoxo Diana + Tekisha

Are you cuddled up on the couch under a cozy blanket with a cup of tea (infused perhaps), a fall-scented candle lit on the table beside you, listening to the sounds of leaves falling outside while you feel a cool, crisp breeze of fresh air from the open window? Well, it’s sweata weatha and it calls for a cherry on top of all that fall comfort: your very own CannaCurious sweatshirt!

Meet Jaimee,
maternal mental health educator & advocate

Present & Patient Parenting with Cannabis

Jaimee is the Executive Director of a Monterey County, California nonprofit focused on maternal mental health. In addition to the work Jaimee does to support other birth-givers, she herself is a single mom to a five year old daughter. She shared the mental health benefits of cannabis consumption, how it helps her manage the demands of life, caring for herself and caring for her child, and the challenges she still faces as she navigates taboos that still exist around the plant, even in Cannafornia.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month đź’–

Though some of our community might still be in the early stages of their own canna-curiosity, we’re all likely familiar with the benefits of using medical cannabis during cancer treatment. These benefits have been reported by patients and medical professionals to help soothe symptoms brought on by the disease, or more often, by chemotherapy. From capsules to tinctures, cannabis can help manage pain, insomnia, nausea, loss of appetite, and stress.

We’ve gathered a collection of cannabis brands who launched efforts to support the cause this October by donating portions of proceeds to nonprofits that help patients and families so that your purchase can contribute, too.

🌸 â€śDoobies for Boobies” by nuEra — Illinois. $1 dollar from every sale of their limited-edition Doobies for Boobies pre-rolls and wristbands will be donated to Gilda’s Club.

🎀 â€śSave The Bits” by Verano — Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. A portion of sales from each package of specially marked BITS™ edibles will go to the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation.

🌷 â€śColas for A Cure” by Ethos Cannabis — Massachusetts & Pennsylvania. 10% of flower sales from their Natural Selections line will go to Living Beyond Breast Cancer.

What a beautiful day at the second annual event from Latinas In Cannabis & founder Susie Plascencia! The Summit united a diverse community of Latina advocates, entrepreneurs, creators, and other professionals for a day focused on connections, growth, and celebrating a community that understands that the plant is so much more than a demonized “drug.”

Guests this year indulged in tasty treats from Pink & Boujee LA, were given complimentary entry to the Summer Nights in Hollywood concert, and received gift bags from Zig-Zag, including products from them and other top California cannabis brands plus the chance to win additional raffles as well.
